What kind of tackle do I need for Halibut?
We use heavy tackle…forty to sixty lb. test line on stiff rods and 4/0 or 6/0 reels. We are fishing from 70 to 150 fathoms of water and often we use 32 to 48 ozs. of lead to get to the bottom.
CRABBING
How do we Crab?
Bay Crabbing: A slip ring pot allows the crab to enter anywhere around the pot. When you pull the pot, The sides of the pot come up when you lift the pot making in near impossible for a crab to escape.
What Kind of Crab?
Dungeness crabs are our target. They are mal, 5 ¾” across the top shell. We’ll be sure to show you how to stay in regulations of crabbing.
Red rock crabs are much smaller (which means much less meat), but are still a good catch.
